Salt has been used now for centuries, mostly for seasoning but there are more uses for this amazing substance than you expect.
1. Test for bad eggs
Not so sure about the freshness of an eggs don't risk it. Add 2 teaspoons of salt to a cup of water and put it in the egg. If the egg floats, it's fresh; if not, it will sink to the bottom.
2. Sanitize sponges
Sponges can harbor different variety of bacteria. To restore them and kill those germs, rinse then soak sponges in cold, heavily salted water for an hour or 2.
3. Extend broom life
Broom fibres will last a lot longer if you soak them in hot water before using them.
4. Keep milk fresh
Milk gone bad can be very devastating, especially if you realize late. Keep your milk fresher for longer by adding a pinch of salt to the carton and shaking.
5. Remove Blood, wine and sweat stains
For spilled wine, blot it up then pour on to absorb the rest. For blood, cold saltwater should do the trick, followed by a wash in soapy, hot water. For sweat stains dissolve salt in a cup of hot water and sponge it on.
6. Remove bad smell from shoes.
After a long day, your shoe may start to stink, just sprinkle a little inside then wipe it up.
7. Good skin
Massage a mixture of olive oil and salt in circular motion into your skin then wash it off.
It increase circulation and buffs away dead skin cells.
8. Make coffee taste better
Coffee can have a bitter taste, but this can be improved by adding a pinch of salt, (it will also enhance the flavor.
9. Soothe a bee sting
Got stung by a bee? Salt has you covered, wet the sting and shake a paste of salt and water. Let it dry and the inflammation and pain will reduce.
10. Prevent sliced fruit from turning brown
Dip sliced pears, apples e.t.c in salt water to preserve their natural look. Especially for apple slices water will also perk them up.
